Types of vehicles accepted on DFDS ferries

It is possible to board D F D S ships with a car, bicycle, motorbike, van, camper van or as a pedestrian (except on the Calais <> Dover and Calais <> Dunkirk routes).

The vehicle may include roof equipment (roof box, bicycle rack, etc.) or a towed element (caravan, trailer, etc.) provided this is declared at the time of booking.

Facilities on DFDS ferries

Standard cabins

D F D S offers standard cabins for up to 4 passengers, with a choice of porthole or no porthole, between 2 and 4 berths and a private bathroom with shower and WC.

Luxury cabins

D F D S offers luxury commodores cabins with all the comforts of home, including a double bed or twin beds, additional sofa, Jacuzzi, en-suite bathroom and spectacular sea views.

Cabins for PRMs

All D F D S ferries have cabins adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM). These cabins are spacious enough to accommodate a wheelchair and have a large adapted bathroom.

Cabins for animals

On some crossings, D F D S offers cabins adapted for pets. These cabins have the same facilities as standard cabins, plus vinyl flooring suitable for pets.

Seats

On some crossings, D F D S offers the possibility of reserving a reclining armchair in a private lounge. This option, which is more economical than a cabin, allows you to enjoy a comfortable journey at a lower cost.

D F D S ferries are equipped with several restaurants and bars offering passengers the opportunity to eat at any time and relax with a drink.

Shops

D F D S ships are equipped with Duty Free shops allowing passengers to buy everything they need during the crossing, as well as perfumes, wines, spirits and more at reduced prices.

Internet on board

Some D F D S ferries offer free Wi-Fi access on board throughout the crossing.

Entertainment

D F D S Seaways ferries offer plenty of entertainment for young and old. There’s a spa area, swimming pool, sun deck, nightclub and much more.

Travelling with children with DFDS

D F D S ships are equipped with all the amenities needed to welcome children. You’ll find playrooms, activities, adapted meals and a nursery area on board the ferries.

Travelling with pets with DFDS

You can travel with your pet on D F D S ferries.

Pets are allowed in reserved cabins and communal areas (excluding restaurants, bars and cafés) where they must be kept on a lead or left in their carrier.

Modification and cancellation of tickets with DFDS

If you have booked your D F D S crossing on smartferry.com or by telephone with one of our agents, it is possible for us to modify or cancel it according to the conditions applicable to your ticket.

To do this, please contact our customer service department by telephone on 04.65.84.14.13.

If you have made your booking directly on D F D S website or via another platform than smartferry.com, we will not be able to make any changes or cancellations.

Is it possible to travel without facilities on a DFDS crossing?

On some D F D S crossings, it is not possible to travel without a cabin or seat reservation.
